In its early years, the company performed construction work on DASNY state contracts and for leading real estate owners, including Goldfarb Real Estate. During this period, Cortazar & Sons specialized in full gut renovations of residential apartment buildings throughout New York City, developing deep experience managing complex projects, coordinating multiple trades, and delivering high-quality results at scale.

 

As the company grew, its focus expanded into the acquisition and redevelopment of multifamily residential properties. These projects involved comprehensive interior and exterior renovations, further strengthening the firm’s expertise in structural work, building systems, scheduling, and cost control from the ground up.

 

A defining transition occurred as the company began purchasing and renovating single-family homes throughout Long Island. This evolution marked a shift toward more detailed, design-driven residential construction and a more personal, hands-on approach to every phase of the building process.
